Overview

Application & process role

WLGSX trommel sand screen is a rotary drum screen for dry and wet sand classification, mud-stone separation and washing-line raw material pre-treatment.

It is not a replacement for high-precision vibrating screen classification. Its main value is anti-blocking screening for wet, muddy and mixed raw material before washing or conveying.

Selection Note

Model range notes

WLGSX drum sand screen is shown separately from inclined vibrating screen, horizontal screen and dewatering screen because it is a rotating anti-blocking pre-screening machine for muddy and wet materials.

Display Logic

Website structure

Displayed as a separate screening product from vibrating screen. Vibrating screens handle grading or dewatering; WLGSX trommel screen handles muddy, wet and mixed raw material pre-treatment with self-cleaning rotation.

Series Boundary

How buyers should choose this equipment type

Mud-stone separation

Selected when raw material contains mud, wet sand, clay lumps or mixed stone that easily blocks vibrating screens.

Dry/wet sand classification

Can be used for river sand, mountain sand, sea sand, weathered sand and quartz sand classification.

Pre-treatment before washing

Placed before wheel sand washer, washing-recovery equipment or belt conveying to reduce downstream load.

Selection Boundary

WLGSX Trommel Screen Selection Boundary

Trommel screening is preferred for wet, muddy and clay-bound material before washing.

WLGSX trommel screen

Rotary screening and wet prescreening equipment for mud-stone separation before SHY washing lines.

Choose when

  • Raw material has high mud content, clay lumps, stone wrapped with mud, weathered mountain sand or wet washing-line material.
  • The process needs spraying, washing, screening and desliming in the front pretreatment section.
  • Feed contains larger lumps, commonly up to about 0-200 mm, and blocking risk makes vibrating screens unsuitable.
  • Mud-stone separation or construction waste aggregate cleaning and grading is required.
  • The wet screening section is followed by a SHY washing, dewatering and recovery machine.

Not suitable when

  • Dry material needs precise multi-size grading into three or four finished aggregate sizes.
  • Only 0-5 mm fine sand needs high-accuracy screening.
  • The site requires a very compact and light screening machine.

Trommel Screen is the preferred formal English name. Drum Sand Screen can be treated as a plain description, not the main technical name.

Advantages

Core advantages

  • Rotary self-cleaning drum reduces screen-hole blockage for wet muddy material
  • Large feed tolerance supports mud-stone mixed material and clay lumps up to the confirmed feed condition
  • Low-speed rotation provides lower noise and stable operation without strong vibration impact
  • Segmented screen openings can separate fine sand, medium sand and pebble in one machine
  • No high-frequency exciter or damping spring set, so maintenance frequency is lower than vibrating screen in muddy material duty
  • Mobile chassis can be discussed for flexible site transfer
Limits

Operating limits

  • Not used for high-precision multi-size premium aggregate grading.
  • Not efficient for ultra-fine sand classification.
  • For dry fine screening, horizontal vibrating screen is normally more suitable.
