Overview
Application & process role
HHT is the end-stage wastewater-treatment machine for wet sand lines. It is normally discussed after washing and fine sand recovery, when the remaining fine mud slurry needs to become transportable filter cake and reusable process water.
It is not a dewatering screen and it is not a fine sand recovery machine. Its job is mud-water separation: press slurry into cake, return filtrate water where the site allows it, and reduce the pressure on settling ponds.

How buyers should choose this equipment type
Automatic plate-pulling filter press
For medium and large sand-washing wastewater projects that need automatic plate opening, filter cake discharge and reduced manual handling.
Sand-washing wastewater treatment
For slurry from sand washing overflow, tailings recovery overflow, construction-waste washing mud or stone-cutting wastewater sections.
Recovery plus filter-press line
Often paired with a WS fine sand recovery machine to form a fine sand recovery plus slurry filter-press workflow.
Advantages
Core advantages
- Program-controlled plate pulling reduces manual work during plate opening and cake discharge
- Integrated hydraulic pressing, feeding, pressure holding and discharge sequence supports continuous slurry-treatment planning
- Filter cake moisture can be reduced to a transportable target range when slurry condition and process configuration are suitable
- Reinforced polypropylene filter plates are suited to abrasive sand-washing slurry conditions
- Filtered water can return to the washing circulation system when site layout and water quality allow it
- Modular body layout can be matched with slurry pump, dosing tank and WS fine sand recovery machine
- Hydraulic pressure holding and pressure relief protection support stable operation and reduce plate damage risk
Limits
Operating limits
- Not required for clear water without suspended solids.
- Large debris must be removed before slurry enters the filter press.
- Low-temperature freezing sites need insulation or enclosed workshop planning.
- Dry production lines without slurry do not need this equipment.
System Flow
How the process works
Washing slurry collection
Overflow slurry from the washing and fine sand recovery section enters the slurry-treatment system.
Feed pump and dosing
A slurry pump and optional PAC/PAM dosing unit feed conditioned slurry into the filter press.
Hydraulic pressing
The hydraulic system closes and holds the filter plates under pressure during feeding and filtration.
Filtration and cake forming
Filtrate water passes through the filter cloth, while fine mud forms filter cake inside the filter chambers.
Automatic plate pulling
The plate-pulling system opens plates automatically for filter cake discharge when configured for program-controlled operation.
Water return and cake handling
Filtered water can return to the washing circulation system; filter cake is transferred for removal, backfilling or other approved handling.

FAQ
Frequently asked selection questions
When do I need a filter press for sand washing wastewater?
Use a filter press for sand washing wastewater when discharge is restricted, pond space is limited, slurry volume is high or the plant needs filter cake discharge and process-water reuse.
Is HHT a fine sand recovery machine?
No. WS recovers fine sand from washing overflow. HHT treats the remaining fine mud slurry after recovery or settling, separating it into filter cake and filtrate water.
What information is needed before selecting a filter press?
Confirm hourly slurry volume, solids ratio, mud characteristics, required automation level, filter cake handling method, installation space and upstream WS recovery or dosing configuration.
