Overview
Application & process role
PCZ, PCF and 2PCZ heavy hammer crushers are separated from ordinary PC hammer crusher and SHKX reversible fine crusher because their feed size, process role and wear parts are completely different.
Heavy hammer crusher is suitable for large-feed single-stage crushing of limestone and other brittle materials, but hard-rock lines such as basalt or granite should normally use jaw crusher plus cone crusher.

Series Boundary
How buyers should choose this equipment type
PCZ single-rotor heavy hammer crusher
Mainstream single-stage heavy hammer crusher for coarse and medium crushing in aggregate and cement raw material lines.
PCF impact-type heavy hammer crusher
Impact-style heavy hammer crusher for a more rounded aggregate shape and stronger shaping direction.
2PCZ double-rotor heavy hammer crusher
Large-capacity heavy hammer crusher with wide feed opening for large mining and high-capacity single-stage crushing.
Boundary against PC and SHKX
PC is small ordinary hammer crusher for soft-material fine crushing. SHKX is a reversible fine crusher for extra-fine sand shaping. Heavy hammer crusher is for large feed, coarse/medium crushing and single-stage aggregate production.
Selection Boundary
Heavy Hammer Crusher Selection Boundary
Simplified crushing option between jaw crushing and ordinary hammer crushing for suitable medium-hard stone.
Heavy hammer crusher
Used when suitable stone can be crushed by one heavy hammer machine instead of a jaw crusher plus a separate fine crusher.
Choose when
- Feed size is about 50-500 mm and material is limestone, bluestone or mixed medium-hard stone.
- The project wants to reduce one crusher, supporting foundations and belt conveyors.
- Medium quarry output is required, commonly for 12/13/24 aggregate stone.
- Raw material is dry or only lightly muddy, without heavy clay.
- A lower-investment replacement for a simple jaw-plus-impact process is acceptable.
Not suitable when
- Pure high-hard pebble or basalt wears heavy hammer parts very quickly.
- High-clay weathered material or wet sticky clay can block grate bars.
- Premium manufactured sand with strong shape requirement is not its best use.
- Oversized raw stone above about 550 mm still needs a jaw crusher first.
Advantages
Core advantages
- Adjustable liner gap supports different discharge size requirements
- High-manganese alloy heavy hammer head has longer wear-life direction than ordinary PC hammer crusher
- No bottom grate structure simplifies maintenance and reduces blockage risk
- Modular machine structure supports convenient wear-part replacement
- Can simplify suitable production lines by reducing the need for jaw crusher plus secondary crusher
Limits
Operating limits
- Not preferred for high-abrasion basalt, granite or diabase.
- Sticky clay and high-mud material can reduce crushing efficiency.
- Premium manufactured sand shaping normally needs cone crusher or fine crusher matching.
Model / Size Data
PCZ / PCF / 2PCZ heavy hammer crusher model reference
Tables show common size ranges. Final configuration is checked by material hardness, mud and moisture, capacity, product size, upstream / downstream equipment and site layout.
Heavy hammer crusher is for suitable brittle materials with compressive strength up to 200 MPa. It is not recommended for high-hardness basalt, granite or diabase because wear will be severe.
