01

Best-fit Feed Materials

Suitable materials
  • Granite, basalt, river pebble, diabase, quartzite, iron ore and other medium-hard to hard rock after primary crushing.
  • Material must be checked for mud, moisture, abrasiveness and feed size before final selection.
Common line position
  • Jaw crusher -> cone crusher -> vibrating screen -> finished aggregate stockpiling.
  • Jaw crusher -> cone crusher -> fine crushing / sand making -> washing or recovery section when required.
02

Operating Limits

  • Not used as the first primary crusher for oversized raw stone.
  • Sticky clay, soft mud and high-moisture material require pretreatment before cone crushing.
  • Soft limestone-only projects may not need hydraulic cone crusher investment.
04

Line Integration

Overview

Application & process role

Use this page before jumping into model tables. Cone crushers all sit after primary crushing, but spring cone, single-cylinder hydraulic cone and multi-cylinder hydraulic cone crushers serve different budgets, rock conditions and aggregate-quality targets.

Spring cone crushers are the basic mechanical option for smaller or lower-budget lines. GPY single-cylinder hydraulic cones suit standard hard-rock secondary and fine crushing. HPY multi-cylinder hydraulic cones are the higher-duty route for large-capacity, premium aggregate or more automated production lines.

How buyers should choose this equipment type

Spring cone crusher

Consider it for small and medium plants, older mine upgrades and lower-budget projects where simple mechanical maintenance is preferred.

Single-cylinder hydraulic cone crusher

Consider it for standard aggregate lines that need hydraulic clearing, common hard-rock crushing and balanced cost-performance.

Multi-cylinder hydraulic cone crusher

Consider it for large mines, high-standard aggregate, high-hardness rock and long-term high-capacity production.

Selection Boundary

Cone Crusher Selection Boundary

Hard-rock secondary and fine crushing equipment for premium aggregate and high-capacity standard lines.

Cone crusher

Used after primary jaw crushing for hard-rock secondary, tertiary or fine crushing.

Choose when

  • Raw material is high-hardness and abrasive stone, such as granite, river pebble, basalt or diabase.
  • The line produces high-standard aggregate for highway, bridge or concrete applications after jaw primary crushing.
  • Large standardized aggregate lines need continuous operation and stable output.
  • The finished aggregate requires more cubical shape and lower flaky content.
  • Iron ore or metal ore needs second-stage crushing in a mineral process.
  • Raw material is relatively clean and dry, without heavy clay.

Not suitable when

  • Soft limestone or weathered stone may not justify the investment in cone crushing.
  • High-mud or wet sticky material can damage internal eccentric and sealing structures.
  • Small simple sand plants with low daily output may find the equipment cost too high.
  • Cone crushers cannot act as the only primary crusher for oversized raw stone; jaw crushing is needed first.
Advantages

Core advantages by series

Spring cone crusher
  • Simple structure and lower procurement cost.
  • Repair threshold is lower for sites familiar with mechanical cone crushers.
  • Suitable for basic medium crushing where premium aggregate shape is not the main requirement.
Single-cylinder hydraulic cone crusher
  • Hydraulic clearing and overload protection reduce manual blockage handling.
  • Balanced option between spring cone and multi-cylinder cone in cost, automation and operating convenience.
  • Can be discussed for both medium and fine crushing by cavity selection.
Multi-cylinder hydraulic cone crusher
  • Designed for higher-load hard-rock crushing and premium aggregate shaping.
  • Multiple cavity options cover medium, fine and extra-fine crushing applications.
  • Automation and monitoring options suit large-scale production-line projects.
Limits

Operating limits

  • Not used as the first primary crusher for oversized raw stone.
  • Sticky clay, soft mud and high-moisture material require pretreatment before cone crushing.
  • Soft limestone-only projects may not need hydraulic cone crusher investment.

FAQ

Frequently asked selection questions

Which cone crusher is best for an aggregate plant?

Spring cone crushers fit lower-budget small and medium lines, GPY single-cylinder hydraulic cone crushers fit standard hard-rock secondary crushing, and HPY multi-cylinder hydraulic cone crushers fit larger hard-rock or premium aggregate projects.

Can a cone crusher replace a jaw crusher as the first crusher?

Normally no. Cone crushers are usually installed after a jaw crusher because they need controlled feed size. Oversized raw stone should enter primary jaw crushing first.

What data is needed before choosing spring, single-cylinder or multi-cylinder cone crusher?

Confirm material hardness and abrasiveness, jaw crusher discharge size, target capacity, required finished size, whether closed-circuit screening is needed and the buyer's automation or budget level.
